Information and Referral: Services provided by the agency include information and referral, public information, and case assistance. Staff provide information and education about services, resources, and entitlements for older people. Activities include the distribution of newsletters, flyers, pamphlets and brochures. Mass media efforts include the release of items for news, features, public activities, radio community focus programs, and public speaking by Department staff. Elder Caregiver Support and Respite: Implemented in July of 2001,
this program provides support groups, educational in-services, videos
and relevant reading materials to caregivers. In-home respite care
gives family caregivers an opportunity for time away from their care
giving responsibilities and assurances that a properly trained person
is in charge during their absence. Senior SCOOP is a bi-monthly newsletter published to provide seniors and others with informational and educational material concerning planned activities and events, current topics of interest, and to provide recognition to seniors of our community. Currently 2,000 senior citizen households receive the “Senior SCOOP.” Long Term Care Ombudsman Program:
This program provides New York State certified staff and volunteers
who advocate for and help resolve concerns of residents in long-term
care facilities. To learn more
