- Learn specialized information about Medicare and health insurance to help others make important decisions that will affect their savings.
- Musical entertainment for congregate dining.
- Instructors for painting/ceramics/line dancing, etc.
- Advisory Council members.
- Help the food pantries make emergency food available to families in need.

Board of Directors Member
Position Type: Board Member (Volunteer)
Organization Information: Tioga Opportunities Inc. is a Community Action Agency of dedicated and resourceful professionals who understand and respond to evolving community needs and causes of poverty. We are responsible managers of resources and services who provide leadership and foster partnerships to improve the quality of life in the greater Tioga County area.
Budget: $10M - $12M annually

Position Details: The Board will support the mission of Tioga Opportunities Inc. representing the diversity of the community. Volunteer members work to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization with the responsibility and oversight for TOI policies and fiscal operations. Day-to-day operations are led by TOI’s Executive Director. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
Leadership, governance, and oversight
Approving TOI’s annual budgets, audit reports, and material business decisions
Being informed of, and meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities
Partnering with the Executive Director and other board members to ensure the board resolutions are carried out
Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director in the development and implementation of TOI’s strategic plan
Assisting the Executive Director and Board President in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by TOI for evaluating its impact and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness
Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
Contributing to the annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director
Qualifications: This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about TOI’s mission and who has a track record of leadership and assisting others. Our board members reflect a unique tri-partite makeup representing the private sector, public sector, and the constituents we serve. We are seeking qualified individuals who can bring their unique perspectives, experience in life and business, and their voice to contribute towards a high functioning Board of Directors in a collaborative spirit.
