March is national Nutrition Awareness month! March also begins the kick off of the Elderwood Community Education Series (CES), which will make its way to the Countryside Community Center on April 18th.

Registered Dietitian, Allyssa Kline, and Speech and Language Pathologist, Jessica Pallozi, will be on hand for the series’ first topic “Aging and Nutrition: Healthier You for a Better Tomorrow.” Attendees will learn what to expect from the normal parts of aging as they compare to the effects of chronic disease, and will explore the role nutrition plays day to day as we age. Stephanie Sinsabaugh, Assistant Administrator of Elderwood, will give an update on recent changes to the U.S. healthcare system to include how area healthcare organizations are shifting to support a healthier community.

The event will take place at the Countryside Community Center (9 Sheldon Guile Blvd, Owego) on April 18th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, and is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. Guests are encouraged to register by calling Elderwood at 607-565-2861 or the Department of Aging at 607-687-4120, ext. 331.
