The impact of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have devastated families of our most vulnerable people, and Community Action Agencies (CAAs) in those areas are working hard to ensure their doors get and stay open to help those in need.

The National Community Action Partnership is raising funds to help staff of the local CAAs get back on their feet so they are able to meet the needs of their local community. 100% of the funds raised by the Partnership will be deployed through Community Action State Associations. The State Associations will develop a process for application and fund-distribution that best meets the needs of the local agencies and their staff, balancing flexibility with accountability. We look forward to reporting back to you and all donors on how the funds were dispersed.

To donate money to help Community Action Agency staff who are struggling with the impact of the hurricanes, click here. You may donate to the full effort, or designate your contribution for Texas or Florida. If you have already donated money, thank you! We will circle back to you in the days to come to clarify this plan and give you the chance to designate if you so choose.

The Partnership board has agreed to contribute $15,000 dollars to this effort. The Partnership's goal throughout this process is to work closely with State Associations to see that dispersal to associations begins before the end of the month and continues as the funds allow through December. Again, please visit the Partnership's donation page to contribute funds to support the Community Action victims of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey. Thank you!

TOI’s Group Workcamp finished its 11th year in Tioga County with over 10,000 volunteer service hours completed in one week. 343 teen campers from 12 states worked on 53 home-repair projects that ranged from building mobile home skirting, decks and stairs, to painting. Additionally, they brought over 2,000 food items for the county’s emergency food pantries. Many thanks go to everyone who helped make this event so successful, especially the Newark Valley Central School District.
