Tioga Opportunities, Inc. administers several grant funded programs with the goal of providing home repairs that improve the health, safety, and livability of homes. Housing is a critical component of independent living and Tioga Opportunities, Inc. is dedicated to ensuring access to affordable and necessary home repairs. Anyone interested in applying should contact Tioga Opportunities, Inc. directly to find out if funding is currently available and to be added to the appropriate waiting list.
Tioga County Home Improvement Program- Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC)
The AHC Tioga County Home Improvement Program provides eligible residents of Tioga County with home improvements to address health and safety concerns within their home. Allowable projects may include: foundation/structural repairs, roof replacements, electrical upgrades, well and septic replacements etc.
Participants must:
- Be a resident of Tioga County
- Must meet income eligibility guidelines
- May not have more than $15,000 in assets
- Must own the home and land
- Must use the property as their primary place of residence
- Disclose previous NYS grant funded home repairs
Mobile & Manufactured Home Replacement Program (MMHR)
The MMHR Program assists low-and-moderate income homeowners with the replacement of dilapidated mobile or manufactured homes that are sited on land owned by the homeowner with a new manufactured home.
Participants must:
- Be a resident of Tioga County
- Must meet income eligibility guidelines
- Must not owe money on the home
- Must own the land on which the home is located
- Must use the property as the primary place of residence
Eligible activities include:
- Demolition, removal, and disposal of dilapidated units
- Purchase and installation of a new unit
- Site preparation for the new unit
- Temporary relocation assistance
- Permitting, environmental review, and testing
Residential Emergency Services To Offer (home) Repair to the Elderly (RESTORE)
The RESTORE program provides financial resources to assist older adult homeowners, age sixty and over, with the cost of addressing emergencies and code violations that pose an immediate threat to their health and safety or affect the livability of their home. Assistance with these repairs enables older adults to continue to live independently in their homes.
Participants must:
- Own and occupy the residential unit receiving assistance as their primary residence
- Must be sixty years of age or older
- Must meet income eligibility criteria
- Must demonstrate an emergency or livability need
